No, the little baby studied and studied the script night and day in order to make that scene work. They almost cut the scene but the baby pleaded and begged to make sure that scene didn't see the cutting room floor.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

I like the part when JC stops on the sidewalk after rescuing the baby from adoption, and says "Just don't expect too much, okay?", the way the baby reacts to her is adorable.

yea that part always brings me to tears. I would have never have handed a baby over to them. Children are not meant to be slaves, and they were pretty upset about not getting a boy. That right there tells you they don't want a child to love and cherish. They wanted a farm hand. Besides all that, was j.c. already attached to elizabeth? I no I was lol.

In most cases, the baby's voice is dubbed,An entire cast and crew can't sit around hoping the baby will say "hi"

They way they often get children to do some things is to set mommy or daddy up off-camera. Mommy or daddy starts saying what the director wants, and
eventually, the child is supposed to mouth back the desired words or sentences.
Doesn't always work. Sometimes it works too well. Eventually, mommy's or daddy's words are editor out of the track.
