The Priest is rude?
Ok, when Papin introduces himself to the priest. He called Papin a Papist, is this considered rude or what?

Why rude???? This is a way of asking if he was a Catholic, as in that time France had more Catholics than protestants. FYI the priest in this movie is protestant.
Shut up and LIVE!
At the time? France always had much more catholics than protestants. The Protestant population in France at it's height was about 7% of France's population. Of course, nowadays both Catholic and Protestant are much less in numbers.
shareThe Protestants had been forced to flee abroad due to the ban on their religion in the XVII century ( Louis the fourteen had abolished the tolerance brought on by Henry the fourth )Hence very few remained at the time when Babette's feast was taking place.
shareI know. What I was saying is that even when protestantism was legal in France, it's number never reached above 10%.
