Rachel and her coded meaning in Anne 2

Remember when she and Marilla were sitting on the porch chatting about Anne’s denial regarding her romantic feelings for good buddy Gil. Mrs. Lynde informed her pal “ You know Marilla, it’s the over particular girls that get left behind”. I think what she meant was "if Anne keeps up this crap, she might end up a spinster like you”. Does anyone agree?

Most definitely. You'll notice that Marilla picked up on it, which is why she responded with her little barb about the overly opinionated being left meaner than second skimmings.

House. My room. Cant walk. My medal. My father. Father, dont!

I thought maybe she was referring to the fact that Marilla dated Gil's father when they were young, but because of their fight at that time and Marilla not forgiving him, Marilla never married.

You are correct, she meant that as well. In a way, Anne did almost lose Gilbert to Christine. He did sound happy about being engaged and content. She's lucky he couldn't get over his love for her and broke it off. NTM, recovered from his life threatening illness. Thank goodness we have antibiotics now.
