Sally Kirkland was just superb in ANNA! One of the deeply memorable performances of the 1980s. I wish there were more great roles in film available for this fine and unique actress.

Totally agree with you Mikel!! Sally is great in that film!! And the film itself is one of my favourite american contemporary films!! I wonder why many people do not make comments about this interesting work?
Unfortunately Sally didn't won when she was nominated for the Academy for this performance, but who cares!! Who's who to say who does better or not?

After I saw it, I wondered why I hadn't seen more of her. She did a good job, although I felt the gratuitous breast shot was silly. Two things stick with me when I think of this movie: 1) it's like a European movie clothed in American trappings and 2) it's an advertisement for Paulina Porozkiva.
