How does this compare to the Bardot version?

I'm guessing not favourably given the low IMDB rating, but I would be interested to here the opinion of anyone who's seen both.

Yeah, I would like to hear also what people thought of it. I'm guessing not much because of the low traffic on this board.

I gave the 1988 version a '4/10' and the 1956 film a '5/10'. Some people say this remake is a ‘disgrace to the original’ as if the rather tedious 1956 film is some kind of masterpiece.
