The alternate ending... spoillers, of course
So, got me some Miami Connection for Christmas! Out of sheer curiosity, I checked out the alternate ending, and yeah... I can see why they told them to go back and shoot more! Even with the movie as bad as it was already
The original ending was similar to Richard Park/Park Woo-sang's previous Tae Kwon Do cheesefest, LA Streetfighters/Ninja Turf (spoilers for that movie), in that one of the heroes ends up biting the bullet with the film tilting away to the skyline and fading to the credits. However, the main reason why the ending was a "wait, what?" situation in MC was because the leader of the ninja clan never has a final fight with Mark! At least in LA Streetfighters, the remaining villains get their comeuppance before the one hero dies. Here, the last scene of the villain would have been him laughing after decapitating his final surviving henchmen!
Hell, they could've still killed of Jim (it's pretty obvious that he was the one who was originally going to kick the bucket) as long as Mark had the fight with *beep* Either way, I'm analyzing this WAY too much, but I have a bad habit of doing this with movies of all calibers, good or bad But it also explains why you can clearly tell that someone is doubling Si Y Jo for the final fight (if a behind the scenes photo is anything to go by, I think it was the guy who played Jeff... at least it looked like a bald version of him ), as I guess Si flew back to Korea with Park once principal photography was over.
