How is this movie a sequal to kfm? it doesnt even have zucker or abrams?

i know its directed by john landis but other than that how is it a sequal? Zucker, Abrams, and zucker dont even have anything to do with it like they did on kentucky fried movie.

reply

Its not really a sequel as such, just a similar (if higher budget,) concept.Kentucky Fried Movie was interspersed with joke news bulletins, this is a movie being interrupted with sketches,I'm glad they didn't call it Kentucky Fried Sequel that would have sucked.Oh by the way it wasn't directed by Landis but Joe Dante and Carl Gottlieb,Zucker,Abrahams and Zucker had bigger fish to fry by then.

reply

My mistake,Landis did direct some of it including my favourite part,Mondo Condo.Cheers.

i dont think this is the sequel. I enjoy this one much more.

The K.F.M. was kind of sight gag humor, where this one was situational comedy.

You should try ebay, half.com or amazon. I got a copy off of half.com with 6 deleted scenes, outtakes, theatrical trailer and it was in widescreen,

It's not a sequel...it's NEVER been called a sequel either.
It's a follow up, there is a difference.

It's easy if you try.

reply

A follow up because there are no returning characters or sketches.

It was called a sequel according to IMDB. Not a final title, but a working title.

"Oh my god! There's a bear in my oatmeal!"

According to the DVD sleeve that it comes in when rented from Netflix:

"Everything from tabloid vignettes, 1950s sci-fi films, late-night porn and infomercials is spoofed in this star-studded collection of skits that's a sequel (of sorts) to the granddaddy of all spoof movies, Kentucky Fried Movie. Rosanna Arquette and Sybil Danning headline a cast of guest stars that will knock your socks off, including Carrie Fisher, David Alan Grier, Steve Guttenberg, Arsenio Hall, Howard Hesseman, B.B. King and Michelle Pfeiffer."

Seems to me it's being called a sequel. But, either way, the movie sucked big time.

According to the trivia it was called "Cheeseburger Film Sandwich" in France and considered a sequel to the "Kentucky Fried Movie." That happens often with International distribution. The US distributer for an old Hong Kong film that happened to star Chow Yun Fat & Danny Lee (both of "The Killer" fame) was retitled "Killers 2" and marketed as a sequel to "The Killer."

The series Robotech is 3 diferent, and unrelated, Japanese Mecha series that were combined and redubbed to be one compleat series.

After the original "Dawn of the Dead" came out, which was called "Zombie" in Europe Darao Argento make a Zombie film that was called "Zombie 2" and marketed as a sequel.

reply

Not to be rude, but I refer you to IMDb's "trivia" section:

In French, the movie is called "Cheeseburger Film Sandwich", because it's considered as the sequel of "Kentucky Fried Movie" (emphasis mine), translated as "Hamburger Film Sandwich".

reply

Not a sequel, no... but you DID see the added signature to the Declaration of Independence, right?

Samuel L. Bronkowitz! ^_^

reply

and Samuel L Bronkowitz is listed for the film credits in the beginning of "Amazon women" as producer or director. although they both may be just nods to the KFM many of these guys landis, zuckerman etc all knew each other through other comedy venues so there's bound to be similarities

reply

Yeah, and every sequel has stuff from the original movie in too...The Skulls, Cruel Intentions, Caddyshack....they ALL shared the same actors. Good call, there is no way this could possibly be called a sequel. These guys are idiots.

Yeah, but Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker had nothing to do with Airplane II either...

I wouldn't regard Amazon Women on the Moon as a sequel as such, but more of a follow-up to Kentucky Fried Movie, or an (attempted) update of it. Consider the following:

* John Landis and Robert K. Weiss worked on both movies.
* Both movies have a similar format - a parody of a specific genre movie (Enter The Dragon=A Fistful Of Yen and Cat-Women of the Moon=Amazon Women on the Moon) surrounded by smaller skits parodying TV shows, commercials, charity appeals, etc.
* Amazon makes several references to Samuel L. Bronkowitz, a gag name from Kentucky Fried Movie.
* The "Video Date" skit on Amazon is pretty much a remake of the "Feel-A-Round" skit from KFM. It's also quite reminiscent of the "Eyewitness News" skit that KFM closed with.

You can tell that the makers of Amazon were going for the same style and vein of humour as Kentucky Fried Movie, but failed quite dismally, in my opinion.

The word is sequel. And it's Abrahams, not Abrams.

reply

It isn't a sequel but was titled "Kentucky Fried Sequel" at one point in pre-production.
