The voice

What is with the voice??? I was excited to see Kathy in something when I saw this and the voice wanted me to pull off my ears. I was very happy to hear her real voice later.

So was it a plot point or what?

I found Kathy's squeaky voice to be very cute and totally right for the role. Wanda was supposed to be an awkward nerdette, so the voice certainly fit the part.

Phew! I am certainly glad to read that her voice in "Alien from L.A." is not her real voice. Kathy Ireland is not just an exceptionally good looking woman but also a keen minded entrepreneur whose products have sold in the billions of dollars worldwide. It would be a cruel fate if she had been saddled with a voice like the one in this movie!

Uh, it is indeed her real voice. It has deepened into adulthood but when this movie came out, this is what she talked like.

Well, hats off to her voice coach. The voice is an important tool in the acting profession, glad she handled the problem.

BTW, Harrison Ford's voice was uncomfortably high pitched when he did "American Graffiti" and also the first released "Star Wars" before his voice came down a few octaves and become more deeply resonant.

Tell me about it. But even if her voice was like that, so what? She has more than proved herself to be a business tycoon who could probably purchase the film studio that released that movie (She's a billionaire, no joke!)

It was her real voice. I remember seeing her in a LA jeans commercial in the late 80's and all I could remember was that horrible high pitched voice. She's had some coaching since then.....thank God. That voice was probably one of the reasons she didn't make it as an actress.....oh and she can't act.

It didn't bother me, but I can see how it might drive some viewers insane.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

The MST3K version was just released on DVD, and they included an interview with the director Albert Pyun. He claimed that she just used her normal speaking voice in the movie. He said that somehow he didn't really notice it when he hired her, but very soon after they started shooting he and others in the cast and crew were driven nuts by her high pitched goofy voice... so much so that they did a few quick re-writes in the script to have other characters comment on it. Apparently she had a sense of humor about it.

It's one of the most annoying voices I've heard in a live performance.
