There's always been a few things about this movie that seemed off.......

1) Just how many cars are on the road right now that doesn't have a spare?

2) During the party, why didn't anyone else besides Chris & that guy notice Sara dangling outside of the window? Like really? Nobody else glanced outside of the window for a mere second to notice that there was a little girl?

3) Chris had kissed Dan in the end of the movie after only meeting him a mere few hours beforehand. That just implies Chris was probably easy.

4) I know that Chris was hurrying down to that bus place to pick up Brenda, but how did she forget that she needed her purse which was where she kept her license?

5) When Brenda said she had spent all her money on the cab fare there, if that's the case, then how did she even make that phone call that started all this in the first place?

I know that I'm trying to nitpick the little things that might be wrong about this movie, but still >.<

1. LOTS of cars on the road right now don't have spares. They have stopped putting them in new cars. :) But, seriously, Chris's mom's car not having a spare isn't that unbelievable. That car probably came with a full size spare, that was probably already put on the car like Daryl asked, and then her parents hadn't gotten around to replacing the spare.

2. Well, that's a common movie situation. It's called "comedy".

3. Perhaps I'm easy, but I don't think simply kissing a really nice guy that one has just met is easy. It is implied that they are going to see each other again.

4. She didn't forget that she needed her purse. She simply forgot her purse. It happens. Maybe you've never left the house and forgotten something, but I think the average person has done this at least once in their lifetime.

5. She called collect. That's why we hear the operator say, "Collect call from Brenda. Will you accept the charges?"

Oh, grow up.

Oh so just because I thought it was weird that she kissed a guy whom she only knows for a few hours, I need to grow up?

How pathetic are you?

reply

You need to grow up for calling her easy yes. It makes you very pathetic. Are you morman or something?

1. Probably more than we think! I still see, probably daily, cars with flats and running out of gas on the freeway (expressway). What's interesting is that after all these years, I still make sure I have a spare that's ready to go, in case of a blowout. All because of this movie. :)

2. My take on that, while yes unbelievable in real life, is that the parents and their friends are so involved in their conversations and raving about the party that they tuned out everything else.

3. Oh, I think it was more of a love at first sight, thing (who knows, maybe she went all the way with him later?) But, I have met girls myself and did worse than that. Maybe she was easy - who knows. She could have just been a tease, as her ex-boyfriend suggested (her legs are locked at the knee).

4. People forget things. I suppose.

5. Maybe Brenda found some of the homeless guy's money in the phone booth. Well, his house, I guess. My question is always what was Brenda's plan after she got to Chicago?

1) Well, I never drove onto the freeway, so maybe I just haven't noticed as much. ^_^

2) Ya but it just seem like a bit of a convenient plot twist that no one else saw her so the plot line could continue with Chris not getting in trouble lol

3) Meh.... ya maybe.

4) N/A

5) Actually, you got a good point there... if she freaked out about not knowing what to do after she got to the bus station, I'd be curious on what her plans were after she got there.

The real question I have is, what about the big guy on the glass at the end? Was he ever rescued? Did he stay up there all night? Did he jump? And how did he turn around (to face the street with his butt against the glass, instead of his stomach) in the first place?

reply

Oh mother of.... I cannot believe I didn't even think of that 😨

2) at night, people in a well-lit room would not actually be able to see outside very well, they would see a reflection of the inside.

the fact that anyone could see sara clearly is cinematic license, necessary for the plot.

Yeah, in reality, Sarah would not be visible to the party people, since, as cyrptic_non_sequitor pointed out, at night it's hard to make out what's outside your window, especially if you've got your lights on inside.

The reason why Sarah was clearly visible was so that the viewing audience could see her, but for all intents and purposes, she was not visible to the people inside.

But Chris and the bad guy clearly saw her from inside the building. Remember, when Chris was ducked down behind the table, she notices the villain looking at Sara through the window and from our view we can see her clearly too. So why couldn't anyone else at the party?

reply

it wasn't in the script.

This post is a crack up!!

Or how about the part where that homeless woman steals Brenda's glasses and they just happen to be the prescription she needed?

Truck or Squad. What side are you on?

reply

1. No spare = common occurrence. Been there, it sucks.
2. It's a joke. They didnt need to put her out of the parent's party window at all. This is similar to slapstick comedy.
3. Kissing a nice and very helpful guy after a hellish night does not imply that she's easy.
4. I've forgotten my wallet on my desk at work and went home for the day. I can totally relate.
5. You might be too young to know what a collect call was, but that was when the callee paid for the call rather than the caller.

Watch the earlier scene at the college party, the camerawork/editing emphasized the "love at first sight" phenomenon between Dan and Chris. In other words, they had a romantic connection that transcends words. Their kiss at the end hardly made Chris "easy," just that she shared the same intrinsic feelings as Dan; and it paved the way for a deeper relationship in the future.
