Better than the original!

I know it goes against the norm of the typical not-quite-as-good-as-the-original sequels, but I honestly thought this was a rare exception! Don't get me wrong, the first movie was still enjoyable, however, i felt that the story moved too slow at times and spent most of the time trying to establish mick as the fish-out-of-water character.. in the 2nd one, there is more to it than just a clash of cultures (although that theme is still explored, but not exhausted). There are more colourful characters introduced - Leroy Brown, the punk kid Rat, the drug dealers Rico and Miguel, etc. and an interesting plotline that puts Mick and Sue's love to the test. It is much more exhilirating to watch than the first.

They should've really stopped it after this one - on a high - instead of making crocodile dundee in LA...

this is the best set of films, despite the first being filmed just over two years before i was born, i still love all three, but the romantic ending and dramatic action of the second movie is fab, plus i love the outback! my fav parts of the movie are set in austrailia

I thought the first was the best. Usually the originals are best, even if the sequels are exceptional.

Linda u are right, originals usually ARE the best. I still like the original Crocodile Dundee but i just enjoy watching the 2nd one better. I really cant think of any other sequel that i like better than the original besides Croc Dundee heh.

I do love the romance of the original but he Dundee really does the hero thing in this. I prefer the sequel's music better as it's more extensive and dramatatic than the first, the first one was like a snippet. The whole return to the outback was great; I loved the 'call' he made to his friends for help and how that did shots of how the territory stood still with the noise rattling through it

This is a really great sequel though I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's better than the original. I like to think that they are both just as good as each other. I've only seen Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles once and that was not long after the DVD came out so a good 4-5 years ago but I remember it being pretty bad :(

I've finished watching my Crocodile Dundee 2 DVD just now and you know what? They really don't make 'em like this any more do they?

couldn't agree more. this was def better than the original. i pretend the 3rd installment doesn't exist. in fact i could apply the whole of what i've said to the terminator series.

Crocadile Dundee 2 still did well at the box office. Crockdile Dundee 1 has been rated as one of the top 100 grossing films of all time. For number 2 to match that or it exceed it was always going to be a tough ask. Hogan has stated that he could never please critics saying he after he made the first film they siad they did'nt like it then he would hear after the 2nd film was made that they like the first one better. Personally I thought the first was tough to match but the 2nd was still a pretty good effort. They had changed directors after they made the first one, I read that Paul Hogan and Director Peter Faiman did'nt see eye to eye. I agree about the thrid one though should never been put on the screen by then people had moved on from crocadile dundee.

Agree with OP. First croc was a bit slow with all the establishing stuff. 2 was funny with a good little story and they could jump right in since we know the characters. Still holds up.
