Gah he was a bastard! I'd say he's the no. 1 baddest bad guy in film. Worse than Biff, Clubber Lang, Capt. Rhodes, and any Karate Kid villains! I really hate this guy and could punch this dude in the face, really I could. 1st degree murder, drugs, and kidnapping Mick's girl. His buddy, Miguel was bad too, but Rico will always be my no. 1 baddest bad guy villain!

shareI have been in love with Luis Rico ever since I saw this movie as a child. 🥰 I have always sympathized with villains, but Luis Rico is my love. ❤ So I'm Team Rico. 😋
And besides being irresistible, he is not that bad. If you try to put yourself in Rico's place - he was trying to defend himself by getting that photo, and later he wanted revenge.
I also like that he treated Sue like a gentleman when he abducted her. That is not always the case with Colombian mafia and hostages! And I also get the feeling that Luis Rico was maybe flirting a little with her, all those smiles and trying to impress her with his wealth and cocaine suitcases and lobsters. But he never sexually harassed her or force his attentions on her. I respect him for that.
And I also like it that he has nice relations with his brother Miguel and his other men. Pablo Escobar, the most famous Colombian drug lord, was very cruel to his own men as well as to his enemies, but we don't see that with Luis Rico.
Whenever I rewatch the movie, I always feel sad that Luis Rico didn't get his island. Hawaii, maybe. 😋😁
