because it was such a powerful episode and because it used the song Nights In White Satin perfectly. Well I watched the DVD yesterday and the song is gone. Ruined the whole episode. I hate when they do that.

The song rights probably ran out and they didn't want to pay for renewing them. This happened to WKRP and is supposed to be the reason you'll never see the Wonder Years on dvd.
then why did they use that music? It sucks since I want Malcolm in the middle on dvd and we just got the first season no other season is out and its rumored thats the same problem.

They purchase the rights for a certain amount of time. When that runs out the shows usually don't want to repurchase the songs. Google WKRP music rights to read the whole dirty story.
and the companies then complain we are stealing there work when its posted on a file sharing website!
I dont know why they cant allow us the general public to get those shows on DVD.
Since they dont we will continue to see it on file sharing websites since we dont want the edits
