Question About Skorzeny

Why did they kill Skorzeny off before the end of the first season? Was he not intended to be kept as the main villain if the series had not been cancelled?

Yes, I believe that was the case. Skorzeny was the main villain of the first season, but you would have noticed that they introduced Remy towards the end, thus he was supposed to be the new villain for a new season. Unfortunately it never got made. The show makers are not aware of any cancellations beforehand, thus they don't script the show accordingly, well in the old days they didn't.

So, I wonder if Chuck Connors knew ahead of time that he was only going to be on the show for one season?

They actually got rid of Chuck Connors some time before they killed off his character. If you look at the last several episodes where Skorzeny appeared, it was an obvious Body Double. You never saw his face, didn't really hear him speak, and really the only time you would see him full on was when he was in his werewolf form. It was especially obvious in the episode with the final appearance of Skorzeny where Skorzeny bowed down to Remy and Eric later killed him.

I really don't know why they got rid of him. It could have been anything from illness to the possibility that he just didn't have time to do it anymore. Who knows? Anyway, when I watched the series back then, I was pretty sure they killed off Skorzeny and introduced Remy because they couldn't use Chuck Connors anymore.

Just finished watching Werewolf. That is my conclusion too. It is too bad really, because Conners was awesome in the early episodes where he was featured.

Yeah, it sucks that it was canceled. The sun will come up tomorrow.

It was the same old thing....money, he wanted this much more,,,wouldn't play ball with the producers so they ex-nayed him. You're quite correct, in the "Remy" storyline they used a bodydouble for Connors & I guess the plan was to run with the Remy character but alas that was not to be as the death knell for the series had already sounded so it was a moot point.
