Waaay too anti war!

Nobody is FOR war. But I cringe at the directors own words that he wanted to push his own anti war agenda...hard during the production of this show. I watched a "making of" video included in my over seas set which DOES have all the origional music, BTW.

I am really trying to like this show inbtween all too obvious bleeding heart liberal agendas being pushed.

I see where the show tries to be true to the real soldiers plight in Vietnam, but ultimately fails in the end due to the powerful liberal politics and mind set of the director, show runner and producers.

"Over There" was anti war too, by Steven Bocho. But in spite of the show not doing well, I thought Bocho pulled things off better. There were a lot of scenes that were, "Oh, well, this is what happens in war. These are facts. You be the judge."

In Tour Of Duty, when a GI accidentally kills a BLACK PAJAMA(just like a VC) clad RUNNING FAST kid in a village, the show screams, "OMG!!! The CHILDREN, THE HORROR! THE HORROR!! War bad. War evil. Where is God?" followed by severe self flagellation etc.

Sorry, I wanted to puke. People die, kids die. Smart kids last longer than stupid kids. Dont dress like a VC and run like a banshee and you may live. Dont mean to be harsh. Nobody wants kids to die, but let us treat this in perspective. They should be showing the GI's that LIKED killing kids. Now that is a topic I can see watching that would really send a realistic anti war message. I could get behind that sooner than the pablum I am being served so far.

Sorry, for the rant. But the show plays on the heart strings mostly of people that have no idea what war is like and have even less of an idea after watching this show.

I hope I can make it through the first season. There are some great action scenes. I find the dramatic situations poorly written and strained. The battle sequences are great, almost Cinema quality. I need more guts and less crying, whining and wringing of hands. Every show seems to show some member who totally looses it. Christ. I am sure that happened. I dont need to see it EVERY episode!!

You are an idiot who needs to stop sharing your opinion on things. You're looking so hard for an "agenda" that you can't take the show for what it is. You had your mind made up before you even watched it... and I think anyone who's actually BEEN to war would find your viewpoints moronic.

reply

Anti war? Maybe.

In my opinion, Tour of Duty showed all the elements (good, bad and ugly) of what happens in war and made for an enjoyable fare.

Unlike other war movies or TV shows (in the past), they didn't over embellish. I thought it was executed accurately.

You may not be interested in war... But war is interested in you.

people that have no idea what war is like
you have no right having that view unless you have been in combat, and I can tell from the post you havent.

reply

Yeah. No one who's either been in combat or even read exhaustively about such things walks away with a glorified view of war
