Transfigurations

I liked the episode. I said it. I don't think a person needs to have a doctorate in theology to appreciate it. If we can have and accept the Organian's who evolved into incorporeal beings then why can't the Zalconian's? If the Organian's push for intergalactic peace and brotherhood is noble then why is John Doe any less noble for wanting to let fellow Zalconian's know there are higher hopes than what they see everyday in their society? A lot of people seem to have a problem with the Messiah-iach aspect of the subject of the episode but I have a much larger problem with Picard who comes off as a Herbert (The Way to Eden) with obvious disinterest (the course projection will not interfere with our Mission) is incongruous with a captain who is mandated to seek out new life. Yes, Doctor I understand about the mutation but for some reason I completely do not care about it. Maybe Picard should have been the one to get the initial energy "jolt" from John so as he would not need the prune juice that he obviously wants to take care of his constipation.
