Time to deconstruct a beloved TNG episode.

I’ve never found that one especially good. A decent episode, but not even in my top 25. But I can admit that because I’m never worried about looking smart or sophisticated. That ship sailed a long time ago.

I never liked it.

I liked Stewart's performance, as always, but the story? Sentimental idiocy!

(Spoiler warning) I'm a big fan of the episode, but even I will acknowledge its flaws, the most obvious of which is that once Picard become Kamin, the rest of the episode should have stayed entirely on Kataan until the very end when Picard awakens. Constantly cutting back to shots of unconscious Picard on board the Enterprise interrupts the momentum and intrigue and takes away a lot of the mystery, especially when we find out what happened to the planet well before Picard does.
