S7E09 "Force of Nature" and the Dominion

"Force of Nature" is a rather preachy episode about environmental damage in space, or how constant use of warp drive in certain sectors of space will eventually cause dangerous rifts in those areas most affected, and how warp travel will then become impossible.

I loved how, once the events of the episode take place, Federation research shows how warp travel in those sectors of space will have to be severely limited to essential travel only, and starships will be forced to go no faster than Warp 5 in all non-emergency cases, and the Federation even shared the research with the Klingons, the Romulans, the Ferengi and the Cardassians, and hoped that all of those powers would follow the same rules for their own best interests.

What got me thinking, though, was the Dominion in DS9 when they invaded those same Federation sectors. The Dominion would love nothing more than to destroy the Federation, and if possible, the various planets and spacelanes, especially if they couldn't conquer them and subjugate them. In fact, I wouldn't put it past the Dominion to actually CAUSE the deterioration of these spacelanes and create plenty more rifts, in a kind of "scorched earth" policy, by detonating lots of Jem'Hadar ships in deliberate warp core breaches.

I know "Force of Nature" is a divisive episode, one of which Greenpeace is probably proud of, but I wonder if anyone thought this of the episode?

This is 1990s "woke" - does it count?

This episode shows is ahead if it's time, and kind of eerie.

All the carbon dioxide that we have placed in the atmosphere from traveling/moving goods from the industrial revolution on has affected our planet, contributing to global warming to great effect.

The parallels are incredible, considering that only few scientists in early 1990's gave credence to the green house theory.
