Episodes that changed your mind on a character

Dr. Crusher never really tripped my trigger until I saw these episodes:

- "Ethics": Crusher's passionate dealings with the ethically dubious doctor while realizing that the woman's experimental methods are the only thing that might save Worf.
- "Data's Day": Crusher amusingly teaching Data how to dance and playing down his instant exceptional progress.
- "Sub Rosa": Most Trek fans hate this episode, but I enjoyed it as an atypical segment focusing on Crusher's involvement with a ghost-like being on a Scottish settlement in the galaxy.

I also thought Counselor Troi was a weak character, but these episodes changed my mind a bit:

- "Disaster": Troi hesitantly assumes command of the Bridge and makes decisions that Ensign Ro hostilely challenges. Deanna sticks to her guns and Ro eventually acknowledges the wisdom of her humble command.
- "Face of the Enemy": Troi is thrust into a situation where she has to masquerade as a Gestapo-like officer on a Romulan Warbird; and she surprisingly rises to the challenge.
- "Man of the People": After the mediating ambassador transfers his negative emotions into Deanna she morphs dramatically, highlighted by her amusing counseling session with a young female crewmember.

I'm not saying these episodes made me love these characters, but they inspired me to respect them and appreciate the uniqueness they brought to the table.

I don't think it's great, but it kept my interest and I like that it offered something different for the series: focusing on a peripheral character, giving Crusher dimension and details on her heritage. I also thought the idea of a galaxy settlement based on a particular theme, in this case Scotland, was interesting. In addition, Star Trek hadn't yet explored the concept of a "ghost" before and, to be expected, explained it in convincing scientific terms (it wasn't really a ghost in the conventional sense, nor was it an evil spirit -- as some understand it -- masquerading as a dead person).

Justice. Before that episode I thought Wesley was going to be useless, annoying and ultimately forgettable like most kid characters in shows. But after it, I decided he was very useless and annoying that was impossible to forget because of his sheer uselessness and annoyingness.
