Picard & crew are on a diplomantic mission to pick up and deliver a women-inside-a-stasis egg, a courtesan designed & bred (made?) to bond with the first male she sees upon awakening. She is meant to seal a peace/truce between two warring factions. Of course, due to a 1 in a bazilljon accident, she sees Picard first. But from him, she learns that she can and must do her duty, and ‘fake’ bond with her intended.

At the end of the episode, her chaperone, an oldster, asks Picard how he resisted her charms, because evan as old as he is, he doubts he could do so. Instead of answering, Picard hopes the chaperone has a pleasant remaining journey.
