Communism?

People think "Star Trek" sponsors communism/socialism/Marxism? I hear those words and what immediately comes to mind is lack of free markets, state-controlled media, suppression of human rights, forced labor camps, etc.

There was hardly any of that shown on "Star Trek" and if it was, it was largely condemned.

I've never heard the word 'communism' in any of the star trek show.

Q said it in "Encounter At Farpoint" when he changed into a military dress uniform. He didn't say "Communists" or "Communism", but he did say "Commies" which is what that means.

He said, "Actually, the issue at stake is patriotism. You must return to your world and put an end to the commies. All it takes are a few good men." And Picard said "That nonsense is centuries behind us."

Communism, socialism, dominionsm. Starfleet isn't here to present equality. Starfleet is here to explore strange new worlds to seek out new life and new civilization. Something this show really needs is good writing. Hitcock said it himself. 'to make a movie you need the script, the script, the script'. Even though star trek was a show which was presented during the cold war It's not about communism. The early seasons was roddenberry being drunk.
