The Borg and the Douwd

What if The Borg attacked Delta Rana IV and assimilated Rishon? Would the Douwd be mad at them? Because when she is drone, she is practically immortal.

reply

I'd say he would have been just as angry as he was with the "Husnok" (sp). She would be immortal, but she would be a hideous looking zombie. He'd have zapped the Borg into non-existence.

If he wipes them out, then he would kill her in the process right?

reply

Well, with his powers, I think he could "de-borg" her much easier than the Doctor did 7 of 9 in "Voyager" THEN zap them.

I think the Dowd would easily fool them into actually not attacking and assimilating the colonists. The Borg are incredibly inept, and it really wouldn't take much to fool them. He might make it seem there's nothing on Rana IV worth assimilating. Or, just as well create something like a Husnock ship to lure the Borg away from the planet.

As a drone, nobody's immortal. The biological components would die eventually. If Rishon were assimilated, she might be saved, but I would think the Borg would suddenly vanish.

I thought the Borg strives after perfection, so it would be very odd not to pursue a eternal life?

Well, it depends squarely on what the Borg define as Perfection? But, I don't think the writers of TNG really gave the Borg a whole lot of thought along their philosophical approaches. That, however, is okay; they don't need to, and in fact it might be just as frightening a concept to consider that the Borg's original purpose for becoming cyborgs may have been completely forgotten, or morphed into something abhorrent, even to their originators.

Nomad had a pretty solid idea of Perfection, flawed as it was, and if he ran across the Borg he would attempt to annihilate them.

Eternal life is a feature of Perfection, if you think of it in terms of theological approaches, but it is not Perfection in and of itself. There has to be a Purpose to it higher than mere existence.

Brian just would have prevented it from happening.
He makes Q look like a Kindergartener after all.
The Borg would just be a minor annoyance to him.
