IMDB boards are now short timers

Short timers are what we called soldiers who had less than 100 days till they are discharged. In fact the boards our single-digit-midgets as of today, 9 days and counting.
You know how too stupid I am? I'm sure plenty of you know, but my point is, I never thought they'd closed down the boards. I thought they kept changing and redesigning it, but I always thought it would be here.
Another website I love, Sports-Reference. They keep changing the format and the way it looks all the time, but it's still up and running.
It's like Censor said, IMDB wasn't making money from it. That'll probably happen to 2.0 as well. I figure by 3.0 they'll be demanding some do-re-mi to keep it going.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm bummed out. I don't do Facebook, twitter or instagram. I'm left out in the cold. Plus this boards were a nice diversion from my day-to-day life. It was my escape and we could all use that.
In nutshell, here's how I feel about the boards closing down and to quote from my favorite poet Keats,
"My heart aches and a drowsy numbness pains my sense..."

Yea, I know. When I have just watched a movie or a TV show, I like to come to the IMDB boards to just find out what other people thought about it. A lot of times certain things are clarified by other posters.

Right. I'll admit that some things go right over my head or don't even get noticed. The responses you get here might be all over the place but after you read through a discussion thread there is a good chnce you will have a grasp on something and maybe a different perspective on life in general. Collectively this place is like a giant brain for adults to continue asking "why" about these artistic creations - great, mediocre, or *beep* - that are reaching the masses. To kill this place is to crush that brain.

If you can look beyond the superficial money issues and the trolling and whatnot you should be able to see that brain is here, living and breathing. The shortsighted bean counters are too dull and uncultured to see what they have here.

eddysl12 and debunkerboy I'm the same way - I come to imdb to get other people's interpretations or to see if they caught something I didn't. It's a shame really because (speaking for myself at least) in a way the imdb boards can add to the enjoyment of a movie or show specifically for those reasons.

I have a brain and good taste, so no, I'm not part of the target demographic.

Thanks everybody. I needed to get it off my chest. Like Dennis Miller says, "I vent, therefore I am".

Haven't you heard Cind the "Trekkers Only" board was removed from 2.0 can't for the love of god imagine why they did that. But you could be right on the making money part of it ,but what I don't quite understand is that IMDB hasn't gone to the major film/TV studios for financial compensation, because it is them who get free promotion and immediate feedback on new releases from the movie/tv-loving community.Studios could use these boards to their benefit,to understand what the audience wants to see or find suggestions how to tackle certain stories and as a source of creative information. 

Nexus, you know what you just did right there? You made perfect sense and a very sound and logic statement. And the movie studios will have none of that!

Yeah they might actually want to make good movies and make movies people want to see in stead of shoveling sh!t down our throats which people after a couple of these won't go to see anymore and make money. 
