yeah i remember that episode...i also remember they always showed it back-to-back so i waited for the next episode and it was a re-run...and it was always a re-run after that...why has it never ended?! it's been a 13 year long thorn on my side!!

reply

I remember that as well... But about 2 weeks after that it aired at 3am on a sunday morning. I tried to stay up to watch it but I could not make it. I was nly about 13 at the time myself. I loved that show with all my heart, and have about 2.5 seasons on tape somewhere in my collections. But I barely remember the begining of the show when it 1st aired on NBC. Then it moved, to what is now UPN and I became a regular of that show. I cannot find it on tv anywhere. I found it once on a NY channel but unfortunatly I am from Chicago. Other than that I cannot find it anywhere else in the world. Maybe there are Repeats on Antarias (hahaha). If anyone finds it on VHS or DVD or back on the air, please let all of us fans know!!! Hope to hear something soon! Lee

Wow, it's so cool to find other die-hard Out Of This World fans! I spent most of my childhood touching my pointer fingers together wishing with all my might that I could freeze time. (I've always had the most dreadful issues with time...)
We moved away from CA, where I had watched it air, and couldn't find it where we lived next.
My grandfather, that sweetheart, came across reruns of the show. For probably three years, taped them for me and sent them to Kansas and a couple years later Texas. The quality is pretty poor, the commercials are amusing, and quite a few episodes are cut off (I never got to see the final episode, either) but I was delighted by watching it! My younger sisters, neither of whom remember so many of the cultural references, got addicted to Evie as I 'outgrew' the series. ::::sigh::: The show SO should've been more well known and available.

Every now and then I find a show or movie with one of the actors in it; I get all excited! It's good to know they're still out there doing some acting.

I can't remember the ending :( I don't think I saw it. I loved the show though, its definitely in my top 10 of series I'd like to see appear on DVD

reply

I'm also a die hard fan of the series.
It's been almost 5 years since it was re-runed by Mexican t.v.
I miss this show very much.
Hopefully it will be released in DVD... hopefully.

i remember watching this during the summer holidays on english tv, and of course everyone at school was trying to make time stop with there fingers. this was a far better series than saved by the bell, or sabrina that they showed in later years (i didn't watch those, i was too old, honest). how did it end?

reply

On www.tvtome.com it reads that the last episode ends like it is a part one of two episodes, but the second part was never aired or never made. The episode is about Evie celebrating her 18th b-d and then Evie's mom gets transported to antares and her dad gets stuck on earth.

reply

i was so young when this show was on, but i still remember that i loved it! noone else does..

reply

Do YOU know how it ends? I hardly remember the storyline, just the finger touching to stop time!

reply

if you want to see it come out on dvd go vote at tvshowsondvd.com and they try to talk to the studio who has the rights to put it on dvd

as memroy serves i swear the series ended with evie's 16th birthday and heer dad returned to earth in the guise of a robot and danced with her for one night...that was the last episode i ever saw...i think they pulled it after that

Thunderbirds Aren't Slow

reply

Her birthday was going to result in the end of the world, mainly because her new power was unstable. She tried to time freeze to buy some time (her new power was to freeze multiple areas), but it only resulted in a horrible eathquake that almost destroyed the city. So the only way to prevent the end of the world was to kill Eve which resulted in the eradication of the house with her and her father in it. Her dad really transported her mother so she would be safe, so he could eliminate both of them, so they could never breed and cause the end of the world.

It was a really controversial episode and tragic episode that was only aired once for obvious reasons.

reply

freeze multiple areas? what does that mean? i mean, whenever she froze time in the past it was freezing the entire planet right? what always made me wonder is every time that she froze time, she still aged, so every time she got older faster than everyone else that she knew, and eventually it would have to add up to something somewhat substantial. and then her birthdays would be a day or so off. heh.

reply

It was the 80's, what do you expect? I always thought she just froze one area, then again I havn't seen the show in years.

reply

That's ridiculous. The end of the show is exactly how TVTome.com depicts it.

Here's the episode synopsis: http://www.tv.com/out-of-this-world/show/2296/episode_guide.html&season=4

And it was an 80's sitcom, not a 2005 natural disaster mini-series.

reply

Of course it's ridiculous, it was the 80's! Actually it was a 2 parter episode, only the show got canned after that season and the second part was never made. I'm sorry for adding a little closure to the series and that you don't have a sense of humor at all.

reply

So there was no real ending. Dad is stuck on earth and mom lives in outter space...Still no closure to my childhood favorite series... I remember watching it on now UPN on Saturday's at 3 PM..(that tells you something)..
Did anyone else watch then? There was a show that aired right after that "Dangerous Women" that never had an ending as well.. I guess that teaches me to get hooked on Saturday afternoon shows...
Longing for closure...

OMG they showed this on Universal 9 aka WWOR aka UPN9 on Saturdays after the horrible Munsters remake. I used to watch this and "My Secret Identity" as well.

I never knew how it ended. Is a DVD release coming?

reply

Last time I saw the show was years ago at 4:30 am on a Saturday night. They have not said anything about any upcoming release or plans of a release for this show yet on tvshowsondvd.com, but if you want info about when shows might be released if they are going to be that is the place to go.

reply

OMG I completely forgot about "Dangerous Women" until I read this post...I can remember watching "Out of this World" and then immediately following with "Dangerous Women"...wow...the memories...

reply

actually the show ended:

evie's birthday and she had one wish: to see her father because she never had before.. something went awry and her mother was transported to the planet and her father was sent to earth.. evie was happy but upset that her mom was there and there was no way to get her back and her dad in alien form was on earth.

at least that's what I read.

also the last time i saw the tv series was when evie's mom donna went to antrasis(spelling?) and then her dad was stuck on earth but they never showed the part 2.. ugh how can they end a series on a part 1 and not show the part 2 its so annoying lol im 24 now and still love the show and wish i can get it all seasons on dvd somehow and the very last episode part 2 of season 4. i cant seem to find it anywhere.. :( its sad to see this show fall off the face of the earth, it was such an awesome show!

I had honestly forgotten about this show until I got to thinking about some of my favorites from when I was a kid, and someone reminded me of it. I knew I recognized Donna Pescow and Maureen Flannigan from somewhere. I just couldn't remember where!

reply

[deleted]

I remember that episode. That's exactly what happened. I remember waiting for a conclusion and thinking that couldn't be the ending, but there was never another episode after that so the series finale was an open-ended cliffhanger which drove me nuts.

reply

I'm not sure if I watched the ending, I was too young to remember, but I remember how much I loved this show. I never did grow out of this show even after it stopped showing. I still go up to people and ask if they remember "out of this world", but to my luck, nobody can remember it. It's funny, I was starting to think I was "out of this world" and it was all in my head, but now I see there are more like me.. LoL!
