so few posts about this play?

This was a sensation when first shown back in the 1980s.
I loved it then but since then there has been a lot of talk about how much of it is based on events that can be proved to have happened.
As a piece of drama it was very strong and everybody thought McGann was going to be a huge star.
There are so few posts here about this play that I think a lot of younger people have never seen it,I would urge people who care about either politics,World war 1 or great drama to seek this dvd out.
I am sick of how THE WIRE or MAD MEN are the best tv series ever made, perhaps they are great but I sometimes think they are just flavour of the month with British people trying to be hip by loving American shows.

I heard that McGann went on holiday by mistake.

Marlon, Claudia and Dimby the cats 1989-2005, 2007 and 2010.

It was good to see you mention all three in one post.
I loved MM in the 80's , has stuck in my mind ever since and fed my interest in WW1, but I also think the Wire and Mad .men are class and classic quality television. No other series have captured me quite like these three did.

In this world you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.I recommend pleasant

Adored this. Maybe its limited release has eroded its potential fan base?

Basically, the only way you can watch this is to own the DVD. Apart from a repeat series within a couple of years of its initial release, it has never been shown on British TV since, such is its controversy. This largely stems from the depiction of the Etaples mutiny, the severity of which is still denied by the government.

No surpirse, then, that so few people have seen it in order to comment.

Too bad! 2014 would be a great year to rerun the series. Too bad it still has not been shown again. The US has shown plenty of films about the mistakes of the past in theaters and TV. All of us can learn from it.
