Amanda Pays as Theora

I just thought she was perfect in both the British pilot and the American TV series. She and Matt Frewer had an awesome chemistry. I was just sorry we never got to see Edison and Theora share more screentime together. I'm sure we would have had the series lasted longer.

Yup! Too bad TV audiences were too dense to understand it's cutting edge social satire and technobabble, but then it was the mid 80's...today, this show would probably last 5 or 7 seasons!

Well, I caught it right away and loved it.
Could not believe when it was cancelled.
Too over some peoples heads, I think.
I remember talking to a vendor at the time and having her say to me: "Max Headroom? I don't get it." and me thinking, 'What don't you get?'

reply

Oh yeah!
I remember going to a popular celebrity photo shop in L.A. and asking the proprieter if she had anything on Max Headroom. She looking at me blankly and said, "Is that show still on?' and gave a little shiver and roll of her eyes like, she too, didn't understand how it could have a fan base.

I got it right away and just the idea of a society "20 minutes into the future" made me come back week after week.

reply

Nah it wouldn't even get made today. After all today is that horrible future (20 minutes/seconds +) that has actually come true because the TV show Max Headroom failed to prevent it from coming true. This was of course not a failing of the show but of the human race (what else is new?).

reply

You have that backwards my friend. TV audiences weren't "too dense" in 1987. I know, I was there. It's TODAY'S generation that suffers from ADD, and is "too dense" to understand what they see.

reply

I would also have liked to see Edison and Theora get jiggy, but thats exactly what happened in 'Moonlighting' with Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepard, and it killed that show dead, add a spark the the chemistry and sometimes it only frizzles away.

Had the show survived for another seasons it would have added to the appeal.

I loved all the Max Headroom show, bought the computer game that was released as well, that definitly needs a re-release. a good Doom/Quake/Thief 1st/3rd person puzzle game.

Amanda was the phyicist on the tv show "The Flash".

reply

The first time I saw her was in Oxford Blues where she was the object of Rob Lowe's desire. My gf wanted to see it for Rob Lowe, and I wanted to see it for Ally Sheedy. It was a pretty forgettable movie, but I do remember that Amanda Pays was rather hot in it. Three years later we sat down to watch this really wicked SciFi show that a friend recommended to us, and there she was, hot as ever.

Oh spiffing. Absolutely spiffing. Well done. Two dead, twenty-five to go.

When I first saw Amanda Pays I had a huge crush on here when I was 15 years old. I thought she was hot! I did not see her for a few more years until The Flash came out and she was also great in that TV show as well.
