Missing Episodes? ...Please Help!

Hi. If anyone has any info on this please let me know at [email protected].
...thanks!!!

I recently bought the 9 episode "complete collection Storyteller DVD, and I know about the Greek Myths one.

How ever, on the "Complete" collection, there seem to be two episodes missing that I vividly remember watching as a child.

I do not know the names, but one involded a modern-day boy who sneaks into a movie/creature maker studio, and comes in contact with a huge, half built mechanical dragon.
The thing is super creepy and comes alive at night, and only to him. Nobody believes him. Its breathes fire and the boy has to overcome his fears, and at the end of the episode it shows him driving away with his parents and a shadow of a dragon hovers over the car.

The other is more fairytale-like and involves a young man trying to attain his true love...he goes on about three errands for an old crone, the last being to get a magical wishing pearl from a dangerous boggy island with a lake monster. All I remember is that at the end he goes into a shoe shop and takes a pair of blue/silver high-heeled womens shoes, much to the shopkeepers dismay. He runs to his true love at the docks by the sea. Instead of giving the shoes to her, he actually sits down and puts them on himself...he turns into a merman and joins his mermaid girlfriend in the ocean, and they swim away, happily ever after.

....So, ok, I know I amnot crazy, those were my two favorite episodes and I know they were The StoryTeller...so what happened to them? besides the fact the DVD doesnt even include the fwds Jim Henson did before every episode (sitting in a chair with his white lion puppet).

Anybody who knows anything, I would really appreciate it. I have been looking for these for a long time.
Thankyou!!!

OK, well I just found out that the first "missing episode" was actually a short TV film called the Moster Maker, that came out in '89 right around the same time as the story teller series. I found this out at http://www.creatureshop.com/
Where and if you can purchase it? I dont know.
And about the other episode...Im still mystified.

In the mid-80s, NBC aired a program called the Jim Henson Hour. The first half-hour was like a new version of The Muppet Show, with skits and a guest star and all. The second half-hour might be either a Storyteller episode, or another half-hour mini movie. The top of each half hour had an introduction from Jim Henson in a room with the White Lion (or the Storyteller's Dog). What you're remembering is 'Monster Maker', yes, and the other one was called 'Lighthouse Island'. They weren't actually Storyteller episodes, because those were all basically European fairy tales. There were two other independent 30 minute stories, 'Living with Dinosaurs', and 'Song of Cloud Forest', and they were brilliant, too.
I just wish they could release the entire Jim Henson Hour on DVD, I have been haunted by images of the dragon from Monster Maker for years. And I'd love to see Henson's introductions to the episodes.
Yeah, I'm a font of useless information, but I love (almost) anything put out by the Hensons.

well, that really puts an end to mystery, thanks so much.
I am just really disappointed that the Jim Henson hour is not available for purchase anywhere...maybe we can get enough fans to petition the Jim Henson co.

wasn't there a rumplestiltskin one too?!?! i know there was one. there HAS to be! unless i dreamed it all.

Yes, I believe there was. And, unfortunately..I don't believe they will put the Jim Henson Hour on DVD because when Walt Disney bought out the Jim Henson company, the only rights to be split between the two companies where those of the Jim Henson Hour. This would make dividing profits messy, and I don't think they're willing to do that. (Greedy-axed Disney)

Hi,

Were 'Monster Maker' and 'Lighthouse island' also jim henson productions then, or simply similar short films that came out around the same time?

It's too bad that so many big companies buy up the rights to films/books/etc and split the rights and then argue for years over who gets what money. I mean, I'm ok with them being greedy with something they made, but to be greedy with someone else's work just seems wrong.
