Why No Video?
I read somewhere recently that Len Deighton didn't like this adaptation of his novels, and has actively prevented its release to the home video market. Can anyone verify this?

Deighton bought the rights to the series in 1989 and stopped any further distribution, I guess he really didn't like. I've only ever seen little bits from an old recording and I can see why, Ian Holm is the most unlikely person to cast as Samson
Wild! I was absolutely Livid!

Hello NONEX--I've just checked web site and it seems only the PAL version is available. Is that correct. Sorry to be so out of touch but what is DVDR. Does that indicate a something I can't play on a US DVD player?
Many Thanks

we have to wait for Leighton to kick the bucket. the family will sell the rights.
sharealso...in the U.S. PBS (WGBH Boston, I think) had the rights. PBS needs $ all the time...so this "tax supported" PBS station should just put it out on DVD like they do all their other "Masterpiece Theater" productions and let Deighton sue them! screw him.
