Just Say No Way

In the episode, Just Say No Way, I felt so bad for D.J. because those boys at school were the ones who were drinking beer and she took the blame.

reply

My assumption is that since the girl's mom died b/c of a drunk driver, Jesse was scared that the same would eventually happen to DJ.

reply

The vast majority of people who drink alcohol do not drive while intoxicated, just because someone drinks doesn't mean there's a justification to think that they are going to drive. Also I'm just going to call it: There is no way Jesse never drank before considering he was written to be this big "wild animal", blah, blah, blah.

reply

It is very much possible to drink yourself and still not like that a thirteen-year-old is doing it.

reply

I get that, but to say that you’ll ruin your life if you start drinking like Jesse said in the episode is nonsense. Most people who drink do not drive

reply

Well, I guess I have to agree with Wildflower101 above. Jesse's sister had been killed by a drunk driver, so that is probably why he was extra upset about DJ being anywhere near alcohol. Plus, she was only thirteen at the time. And that is nowhere near being old enough to drink beer. Of course, DJ was innocent and happened to just hold the can for somebody else. But it looked bad from Jesse's perspective.

reply

I get that but you don’t ruin your life just by drinking alcohol. 86 percent of Americans above the age of 18 drink alcohol however the vast majority of people who drink don’t drive while drunk. This is yet another example of a dumb full house moment.

reply

Then again, it is right to be concerned if a thirteen-year-old is holding a can of beer in their hand... I will be mad if my niece does that when she's thirteen.

Also, you will never know which thirteen-year-old might drive while drunk just a few years later. One beer in Middle School might be a slippery slope to something worse for some people.

reply

Yes but that's besides the point, Jesse said that alcohol ruins lives, statistically speaking it doesn't, it's only very rare exceptions where someone's alcohol usage ruins lives. 86% of Americans drink, far far less do anything that would be considered "ruining lives". Just drinking is no indication that they will ever drive, none. That episode was stupid.

reply

I see it as him as being so scared and angry, that he couldn't make his point clearer than that at the time.

reply

You know what else would reduce drunk driving? If we got rid of cars, by Full House logic we shouldn't drive because the more people drive the more people die from drunk driving.

You seem to think that I think 13 year olds should drink, I never said that, what I said was there are so many steps in between picking up a beer and "ruining your life" yet Jesse said "next thing I know they've ruined their lives". Not true.

reply

Like I said, Jesse was really upset at the time and might have exaggerated.
But it sounds to me like he made some good points anyway.

reply

He didn't make any good points aside from you're too young to drink. There is no connection between picking up a beer and "ruining your life", there are other ways you can ruin your life without drinking such as being a pedophile or having a negligent discharge.

reply

Well, we have to agree to disagree on that.

reply

Actually no I'm right, the first time you pick up a beer there are so many things that have to happen before you "ruin your life" and the vast majority of people (86% of Americans) who pick up a beer don't "ruin their lives". Jesse was fear mongering and when you lie to children about drugs and alcohol they don't trust you and then they see no reason not to do it.

reply

I still think Jesse was an idiot not to believe DJ when she told him the truth. He saw what he wanted to see, rather than listening to her. Of course, Jesse was one of the dumber people in that house, so perhaps it's not all that surprising.

reply

True, he jumped the gun there. But if you think about it from his perspective, it will become more understandable... He found his young niece holding a can of beer and having beer spilled on her clothes, which must have been awful to him. And alas, the truth of what happened (another kid brought that beer to the school dance and spilled it on her) sounded like dumb lies, that a guilty party might come up with to get out of trouble. But yes, I feel sorry for DJ too. And it was great that Stephanie could set things straight.

reply

Stephanie set nothing straight. Danny and Jesse still believed DJ drank until they were told by Kevin that was wrong. Pay attention sweetheart
