Monsieur X

Hey, i'm watching this program at school and we have an assignment: Imagine a story as to who's Monsieur X (L'homme en noir)? Well, i'm gonna say Michael Jackson, (who else to hide in france while following an american boy?)

But seriously, if u know who the guy is, leave a message, thanks.

It's been a while since I watched the series, but if my memory is correct it turns out that he's a scout for a modeling agency who's following Mireille around to FINALLY offer her a modeling job.

reply

Actually I think it was to be a movie star, not a model.

reply

Oh, thats why that weird guy follows her around all the time? So are she and Robert lovers or are they just friends. Robert looks like he wants it to go further, but Mirelle only seems to like him as a friend.

I've always wanted to say this..........for shizzle!

reply

Yeah, that's right. Robert tries to be her boyfriend but she seems like she just wants to be friends.

He's a time traveller.

He is a figment of the American imagination...for someone who was supposed to be American, he was very french. As for immersion...actully, you have to be immersed for quite a while before it works...otherwise you will be like a little baby whose has only heard its native tongue for about 3 months...you just can't learn a language well in such a short amount of time.

Ideally, "Monsieur X" would say, "Buy the CD's...pay lots of money and you will be entertained long into your dotage...."

There is a person listed in the credits as "l'homme en noir et le mime," ie the "man in black and the mime." His name is given as Jean-Claude Cotillard. So apparently the man in black and the mime character are played by the same actor.

Nevertheless, when the man in black finally approaches Mireille in the last episode (#52), he introduces himself as "Fred Barzyk." Fred Barzyk is listed in the credits as the executive producer of the series. Bizarre, bizarre.

FYI - Barzyk has also produced other Annenberg language series.

reply

Yes, the actor who played Mr. X (and the mime) is Jean-Claude Cotillard, who also happens to be the father of the Academy Award winning actress, Marion Cotillard.

I love it how Hubert says "Bizarre". ?

HAH HA ha. I never learned very much from these. Mastering audible French is very difficult.
