Least Fave sketch of theirs...

Ok so there's a "Fave sketch of theirs..." thread and of course I love French & Saunders more than anything, literally its my favourite TV show and if it were a movie it'd be my favourite too. I also love both Jen and Dawn as comediennes and everything they've done outside of French & Saunders.

Anyway, I was wondering is there anything they did that you didn't like or just thought was their weakest skit? I only ask because I love the show so much :D

I personally don't really have anything that comes straight to mind, but I think I would say I never really took to the Fat Men sketches, but I don't dislike them as much now as I used to.

Ok that's my honest answer, how about you guys?

Not a big fan of the fat men myself, but it's not so horrible that I can't stand it. I've pretty much loved everything I've seen.

reply

definitely the fat men. it annoys me that wheneve they show fns clips its always of that and i just think that theyve done so much better.

none of their work is bad though.

the "I am making art" from their live show was just ...nothingness!

Some of the music video parodies are of acts I'm not familiar with, so they don't do much for me. A few of the movie parodies fall relatively flat, too.

I love the fat men and vid/movie parodies...except those weird Italian movie parodies. I think they're of Felini or something like that. Whatever they are...they are awful. The Titty Saunders lesbian one was pretty creepy...I think it was on the Celebrity Puddings special with Richard and Judy.

Oh I just remembered another thing, it's not really a sketch but something they do often; the "are you going to do the accent?" line. I loved it in the 'Gone with the Wind' parody when they first used it and even in some other sketches after (Thelma & Louise). But for me in later sketches it's sometimes over used and the "how are ya?" answer rushed and said in a strange way that isn't even a bad impersonation of an American accent (as in the original sketch when this was the punchline of the joke). It's like the line is used for the sake of the reference, but isn't actually funny in itself (when it could be if a little bit more effort was put into the delivery like it was in the original).

I don't know, it is very hard to think of French & Saunders' work which I didn't like lol.

I too do not care for the fat men. They're too crude for me. And I'm usually not weird about that.
I also just recently saw a sketch where they tried the accent line and it didn't really work.
I didn't like the Kill Bill spoof too much. I had a really bad dream the night after I saw the actual movie, where Julianne Moore killed my dad. He eventually came back to life, so it wasn't too traumatizing. But enough so that I can't watch gory movies anymore. The spoof made sense in that it was making fun of how bloody it was, but still. Eh.

Maybe so, what I was saying is that the joke was funny the first 3 or 4 times they referenced it in their skits. However, in later episodes it was delivered so quickly and automatically that it was not funny, like they say; It's all in the delivery.

I agree, its a very funny line but to my mind remains funny throughout all of the seasons. However, you have missed the point completely. Although it originally appears in the American Gone with the Wind skit its actually an Irish accent that they are susequently trying to mimic

On the Titanic Xmas Special they did a sketch were they work in the Royal kitchens and are nicking all the Queen's gifts. I just didn't get this and didn't find it funny. A weak skecth in an otherwise perfect Special.

I really don't like any with the old men.

nearly anything that takes place in that vastly white front drawing room.
