Anachronism


In the first episode (which takes place shortly after the beginning of WWII) the British propaganda office is unpacking at its new office in Bucharest. One of the items being unpacked is a portrait of Winston Churchill. Winston did not become prime minister until quite a few months later so it is not historically correct.

Yes it does look a lot like a Churchill painting, mind you I was a bit more surprised about the plastic tape on the boxes!
And a Dutch radio in the hotal, not to mention all the 1980's hairstyles and wrong ways to wear a hat!

Maybe they just liked Winnie--although given Guy's politics, I guess that's a non-starter.

Of course such an office would never have a picture of the Prime Minister, but a picture of the King.

Well after 1940 Churchill was an international symbol of British resistance,so a picture of WSC in a window in a neutral country is a lot more likely than a picture of the King.

The original point is correct if the scene is set before Churchill became PM.
