I never watched either this or Ally McBeal but by the summaries and commercials they seem like they may be somewhat similar. How do they compare to one another ? Which is better ? Why ?

Ally McBeal was a pretty good show, and I watched all of the episodes. But it was nowhere as good as The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, because the writing was extraordinary.

I'm a little perplexed by your question. Where would you watch the recommended episodes? If you know something I don't know, please do tell. In any case, I don't have any recollection of ever seeing a bad episode. They were all excellent.

When I first saw Ally McBeal I thought 'this is like Molly Dodd'. My vote would go to Molly Dodd; probably because it was the first. Ally McBeal was probably a bit "edgier".

From my albeit limited exposure, Ally McBeal seems like a bit more of a cynical show. It had that "edgy, disaffected, extreme" quality that a lot of 90s media had. "Days and Nights" comes off as more sincere with an overall sweeter, less bitter tone.
