Where can we find it?

Were can we find this tv serie?

The only place I could find it was on eDonkey, but other downloading-programs probably has it too. It sucks that they haven't made any official DVD's (packed with extras) yet.

-This is my John Hancock?

If the demand is great enough, I think they would have released them - it's ultimately about the bottom line. CP was one of the wave of cheesey but really cool kiddie TV shows (based on toylines) from the 80's. Unfortunately CP disappeared from the pop culture radar a long time ago.

Why not buy the Hi-Tops videos on ebay or eslewhere?

Yeah, you're probably right....it's a shame though... those worn-out VHS-copies floating around on ebay aren't giving the series enough credit!
What does it take to get it out on DVD??
Preferrably a world-wide release..

This should have been on DVD 5 years ago! Interactive toy tie-in notwithstanding, in my opinion, this show was well ahead of its time (maybe still so), and was one of the most fascinating and innovative programs in television history. Though somewhat derivative (isn't all science fiction?), the storylines were deliciously dark and cerebral, rivaling the best of Star Trek. The characters were dimensional and believable, the acting and production values were top-notch, and the visual effects were cutting-edge (some of the very first examples of CGI on TV). The hokey title is probably the show's only flaw. I think it would make an excellent film or new television series. Until then, why can't it be released on DVD? Furthermore, why can't the Sci-Fi Channel (aka the Stargate Channel) set aside 30 minutes a week from its inane originals and bring back a quality science fiction show for once?

"CP was one of the wave of cheesey but really cool kiddie TV shows (based on toylines) from the 80's."

Aside from the title, there was nothing cheesy about it, and though the toyline geared the show towards children, it was a very adult show (the violence and mature themes weren't what you find in saturday morning cartoons).

"Unfortunately CP disappeared from the pop culture radar a long time ago."

I think this is because it was far too ahead of its time. Today's more sophisticated audience would probably be able to appreciate it.

I actually just got a bag from my mother with some old tapes she found when cleaning out a cabinet in out house: all three of the training videos still in perfect shape and two episodes of the Dino Riders show. I had a blast showing my fiance the tapes. She is also a child of the 80s and even though she never heard of it, she was eager to see. Looking at the cast list with her, I found out that the actress that played Pilot (Jessica Steen) was a lead character on Earth 2 back in the mid 90s.

There wasn't a season 2 - it ran for one season, 1987-88, for 22 episodes. Alas, the show ended on a killer cliffhanger. But it was fun while it lasted.

As for the old video releases, they only released 11 of the 22 episodes. That's if you can even FIND the old videos (they've pretty much been snapped up by collectors by now and rarely show up on ebay anymore) Most of the really good stuff happened in the latter half of the series, which was never released on video.

Hope this clarifies a few points!

Fiancee is a child of the 80's, eh? Well, if she has a sister or cousin let me know.....
