DVD?

I would soooo wish for this to come to DVD...

reply

taht would be awsome. Although, if you go to www.captainpower.com I think they have the episodes on file so that you can watch them.

reply

Actually you CAN get it on DVD. Just go to Captainpower.com and go down the page until you see it. It's a DVD set done by a fan, and has the entire series on it. I haven't bought it (yet), but a lot of people have, and I hear that it's outstanding!

Why spend 30 bucks on a 'Fan-made DVD' when you can download it on the web for free? It's not like the production company is losing money when they haven't even bothered to put it out on DVD yet.

I'd like to see a DVD box with ALL the episodes, (with audio commentary from the cast and directors/producers/editors/etc.) and perhaps even include some of the toys from the old day.

That would rock! But when it's not out there, then use the net to get it.

Wow.. I remember watching this show like 5-7 years ago! Haha, and now I realize I had no idea what was going on... Perhaps I was just mindlessly watching whatever was on LOL!

I bevilve that Anchor Bay owns the rights to Heron Commcations, becuse they like re-relesed bunch of Hi-Tops videos in the mid 90s to early 00s. so better have a IP protectoinom them and the MPAA.

reply

But when you live in Europe, then what options do you have?
Plus, this is the DVD-age, VHS is on the verge of extinction.
When they could spend (supposedly) near 1 million US $ per episode, then why can't they spend a little more to put the show on a good DVD-release?

reply

I guess you are right. It's getting very hard to findd the tapes

reply

Yes it is, and when you finally do find them, they're helluva expensive! But don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys that rip movies free from the web all the time... I'd love to buy this series on dvd, but when it's not there, it's just not there, and the only other way of seeing them is downloading.
I soooooooooo wish they'd put it out on DVD. I'd buy it, even though I already have seen all the episodes. Especially if they included the interactive tv-gun adn/or maybe some of the toys as some sort of 'special collectors'-edition. :oP

I just watched this on DVD and I have to say.

This is a pretty cool series, definetly ahead of its time.

But the toys that interacted with what was going on on the screen, that was pure genius. Unfortunately, it too was ahead of its time.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this idea (an interactive tv show) resurrected, especially with TV producers trying to woo people away from the internet (and back to the boob tube) and its interactivity.

Check out www.ontherunvideo.com

I just got the whole series, includes the animated videos and the commercials. Video is great. Now if I could only find my old toys.

reply

That set is not only overpriced, but heavily compressed to fit on so few discs. Not to mention it doesn't contain nearly all the commercials or bonus tapes that were available. The set I posted the link to is the closest thing to a definitive collection out there at the moment.

reply

Web versions won't work with the old toys. The "interactive" effect relied on video interlacing, and the majority of downloaded videos are de-interlaced. Fine to just watch the show, I guess, but not a true representation of how it was originally shown.

Damn it, so the only way to watch the show as it was truly intended is to buy expensive 2nd (or 33rd) hand VHS-cassettes? Then I'll probably pass on the opportunity until somebody offers me a non-expensive and non-difficult way to see (and try) it.

Where can I download it?

reply

I'm not sure actually.. I got it from eMule or eDonkey, but not sure it's there anymore.. try to google it or something.

reply

EDIT I originally posted "Why promote bootlegs?". I realize that comment might have been taken as insult or as being confrontational. I checked the official website and the "official" DVDs although sold out, appear to have been legitimate releases, or at least officially commissioned by the owners of the website.

reply

the episodes have been released on the internet via AVI files. just do a Google search :)

reply

See previous posts about de-interlacing. Fine if you just want to watch them, but the de-interlaced avi versions won't work with the toys. Not to mention all those avi versions are pretty poor quality overall... The DVD set was at least put together with picture and sound quality being the primary focus, and has piles of genuinely interesting extras that no other set (that I have seen) has.

reply

They only have the first season available on dvd to buy from the captainpower.com site. However, they also have an episode guide that summarizes season 2, I didn't know there was a season 2, and that is not available for download or to buy, it's not even mentioned on imdb.com. So did season 2 ever make it on tv? is it even created?

reply

Season 2 was never filmed.

reply

I hope we finaly going to get an official DVD and if ossibil a remake as well
