Most who keep up with Spoilers probably already know this ...

Quinn immediately rushes in at his side concerned.
Ridge blames Quinn for all of this.

I can just hear Steffy or Ridge say, "Well, if he dies, at least we didn't marry her!" That's assuming she stuck to her guns, knowing Eric needs his family more than he would ever want or need her. Funny, how she seems to care more about him and his feeling than his ingrate offspring and their spawn do.
