What's your favourite episode?

Mines the first one where Baldrick becomes a politician for the Adder party.

They're all hilarious but I think I like the one with Samuel Johnston who wrote the first dictionary, I love it when Blackadder makes up words to make him think that he's forgotten them haha!

Let's dooooooooo it!

reply

and it isnt easy making up realistic words - ive tried :(

reply

For me, too, the Dr Johnson episode. Closely followed by all the others :)

reply

I like the politics one that is fantastic!! "Pit the glint in the milkman's eye" priceless!

reply

I love 'Nob and Nobility'

"Bonjour monsieur!"
"Sod off!"

reply

'Nob and Nobility' for me too - utterly hilarious and it was great to see Tim McInnerny again.

"*I* am the Scarlet Pimpernell" I almost had a heart attack the first time I saw that bit - so sexy.

reply

Definetely Nob and Nobilty.

reply

I have to agree. This episode is my all-time favorite!

The actors or the french revolution.

Sense & Senility and Amy and Amiability. Love the sound fx of the squirrels dying LOL!

"I take no side."

reply

Definitely 'Dish and Dishonesty' because it has one of my favorite bits in it When Blackadder is filling out the 'MP' application for Baldrick and he asks him what his first name is and Baldrick says, 'Sod off!' The explanation is hysterical!

reply

Favourite is the dictionary episode, because it's so hilarious...closely followed by "Goodbyeee" because it's so sad.

I love the entire series with a passion, though...except for maybe the first season.

I've always been fond of "Ink and Incapability" and "Nob and Nobility" over the years, but recently my opinion has shifted to "Duel and Duality". That one IMO holds up best over subsequent viewings, Stephen Fry is hysterical, and I love the twist ending. Just my opinion though.

Although I'm not crazy about the episode entire, "Sense and Senility" gets an honorable mention for the "Macbeth" joke, which is undoubtedly the funniest gag in the history of TV.

I liked all of them, but I loved Baldric in 'Duel and Duality', where he tells the Prince, that "All portrates look alike these days because they are painted to a romatic ideal, rather than as a true depiction of the ideosyncratic facial qualities of the person in question." :-)

Ummm..Cannot think of one at the moment, but give me a minute and I'll be back with an awnser before you can say 'Antiedistablishmanteriism...'

reply

Really they are all phenomenally brilliant, but I think Amy and Amiability is my favourite by a small margin.

reply

My favourite episode is probably the one where Blackadder becomes a politican. That one just beats the episode with Stephen Fry.

reply

I can't be sure which is best because my PBS station has never, ever shown Nob & Nobility (I guess they're just anti-French), but I would say:
Dish is the best because of the application scene and the election night special,
Ink is the best because of the gobbledygook scene and Blackadder's dream sequence,
Nob is the best because of the frog squishing sound and the symptoms of the suicide pill,
Sense is the best because of the MacBeth scene and how the prince didn't know plays weren't real,
Amy is the best because of the squirrel sound effect and Blackadder's highwayman scene,
and Duel is the best because of McAdder and the suprise ending.

reply

I'm unsure about the best episode, but I sure think that it did present the best series' finale ever.

reply

"Ink and Incapability". Hands down. That part where Blackadder asks Baldrick if he has rewritten C and Baldrick replies "Yes. C: big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in" cracks me up every time.

Amy and Amiability, definitely. Closely followed by the election (Pitt The Younger) episode. Every episode of series 3 is genius, though.

reply

LOL, we are of the same opinion except in the reverse! Dish and Dishonesty (the Pitt the Younger ep) is my fave, but Amy is a close second. (LOL @ Baldrick as the horse!) Totally agree that all the eps of this series are genius. I recently re-watched during an illness and had to turn it off because the constant laughter kept bringing on coughing fits!

"Duel and Duality" was the best one I thought. It was a perfect ending to a great third run, it was extremely funny.

I also like the first one "Dish and Dishonesty", where Blackadder goes into politics. It was just so smart, witty, satirical and hilarious. Great episode.

Of course all of the episodes are great, as is the show itself, even the less funny first one.

reply

Nob and Nobility :D

reply

This by far the best series. For years my favourite episode was Ink and Incapability but now it's Dual and Duality. I love Stephen Fry as The Duke of Wellington when he thinks Prince George is the servant and complains about him taking ages to make the tea, 'Where've you been? India? Ceylon? CHINA?' then he kicks Hugh Laurie in the back and sends him flying with the tea tray. A killer every time.

reply

Sense and Senility is the one where I laughed the most :P Those actors and their aversion to Macbeth, and the Prince learning to roar

No, no, no...I'm not insulting you, I'm describing you.
