shareHere we are, one year after Allemann wrote his OP - and he was correct. B. Hussein was reelected and is now very openly anti-American, not upholding our constitution, ignoring U.S. law and the rights of many - more than ever before! He is now open about his true goals for our country and about his ties and allegiance to his beloved muslim brotherhood (deliberately not capitalized)! He now shows his true colors those of a Lying Tyrant bent on the destruction of America! Many who did not "get it" before are "getting it" now!
I'm pleased to say I did not vote for him! Many who did regret it. Some are still supporting him; low information voters who care only about their gov't. handouts and those who believe Communism is the answer also still support him...but even their numbers are decreasing, as he becomes more and more blatant.
Many who voted for him in 2008 and 2012 are disillusioned and see how much he really cared about "the people" and "the poor"...not at all! They now recognize they were duped by his lies and empty promises. It's too bad that his 2012 demand to "vote for revenge" didn't tip them off to his deep seated rage and anger.
What B. Hussein truly cared about, all along, was his personal "hope & change". His "hope" for revenge and complete power over the world and his "change" of this formerly great country to one run by communists, criminals, supporters of terrorism and vicious barbarians.
Even some House and Senate Democrats finally realize his true agenda - they are starting to balk and openly disagree. More and more recognize that the B. Hussein entire administration is corrupt,as well as many government agencies, under his watch and according to his wishes.
Head your history, folks. Dictators confiscate guns, spy on their own citizens and take away rights. And they divide people, to conquer them!

And another 6 months gone by since you posted and even today an announcement that if Congress doesn't do his bidding he will "go around" them with executive orders and rule making.
People shouldn't be surprised as his progressive roots were deep when he was in the Senate and being groomed to be President. Notice how many votes he missed or 'present' but not voting. If anyone with a marble of common sense left could find out it they took the time to look what the so-called progressives have as an agenda. Believe me, it is not anything like the traditional America which is delineated in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, or the forefathers wanted.

Obama, with one of the lowest if not lowest approval rating (around 40-45%) [edited] of any president ever is still blaming George Bush for the mess we are in today. In fact, it is Obama's policies that got in this mess with the rest of the world laughing at us because of his lack of a consistent foreign policy. Putin has stated that he thinks our president is naive, stupid, and without a backbone. The rest of the world while not stating it is probably thinking the same thing.
If you think this is "silly" talk or thinking then you certainly aren't following the news or ever read a history book.

For instance, you cite Obama's approval rating as 30%-35%, "the lowest of any president ever." In fact, his approval rating is 41%. Nowhere near as low as George Bush's amazingly low 25%. These are all accurate figures you can easily research with a quick Google search.
This is why it's a silly topic. It was a silly mini-series that was a result of paranoid and fear of the cold war, and it played perfectly to people like you, who are either intentionally misrepresenting the facts, or else just parroting something you heard on some right-wing web site and you don't know any better.

You are correct on his overall approval rating and I have edited my typo to reflect it.
But...
In that context, new Washington Post/ABC News poll results are more bad news for the White House. They show Obama’s approval dropping to 41 percent, a new low for this particular survey. In the issue-by-issue breakdown, only 42 percent of respondents said they approved of the way the president is handling the economy. Only 37 percent approve of the way he is handling health care. If you read the whole article linked above it is not a pretty picture. Even Dim pols are deserting him like he has leprosy and don't want him helping their campaign. How anyone can still defend his administration given what's happened in the last 5 years shows either ignorance or stupidity.

You can find anything you want to support on the Internet, so this doesn't really mean a thing. If you'd watched Dick Morris or read any of his articles/blog posts before the presidential election, you'd have thought Romney was going to win "in a landslide" (his very words).
I didn't vote for Obama. He wasn't my candidate. Neither was Romney. I tell you this so you know I speak from a point of objectivity. It's a dark time for Obama's poll numbers, but just about every president has went through this. Bush's were very dark indeed. Clinton had his time, too.
But none of that has much to do with this silly mini-series that effectively destroyed the tradition of the epic television mini-series that lasted for hours each night. This was a slow, VERY slow, excruciatingly slow symbol of people's irrational fear of Russia during the cold war era. I'm sure at the time, it struck people as realistic, but hopefully with time and more wisdom, we see it for what it is... just silly.
If you're into this sort of thing for enjoyment, I cannot recommend anything higher that James Clavell's The Children's Story. You can find it on YouTube and although it's the same type of paranoia and fear-mongering, I found it very well done and entertaining. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
I watch this show because of the historical look back at the '50s and scare mongering that went on then. I was in elementary school during the early '50s and the threat of nuclear war was real to us. This show does have its corniness but many of the happenings were real to my generation even though it may seem silly to you, I can assure you the threat was real, especially when we heard about the M.A.D. policy of the government. I grew up in Miami and the people were not so extreme like other towns where they were putting bomb shelters in their backyard. I never saw one in Miami but did see one on my uncle's farm in Missouri.
Aside from that the '50s were good times. We had a president who went golfing every day and vetoed most legislation so the economy was zooming and our house kept expanding for more room.

I watch this show because of the historical look back at the '50s and scare mongering that went on then.
They certainly gave you guys your share of that, being the "duck and cover" era, but this show is actually set during the 1988-1998 time period. I was born a few years later than you, but remember the M.A.D. and "make my day" stuff quite well. Born in West Virginia, we didn't do the bomb shelters either, but there was plenty of small town fear going around about the "russkies" and what they might do to us.
I think a lot of the good economy you enjoyed was due to the after-war period, the strength of unions, and big government spending on major programs like Hoover Dam and LaGuardia Airport. You guys put everyone to work, and the economy was strong. Now we're cutting back, nothing is being built or spent (to grow the economy, anyway... lots of worthless spending is happening), just budget tightening, and less people are working, more work being outsourced to other countries. We're going into a bad spell. I hope we can recover. share
The OP was quite correct. Mr. Obama has continued to destroy our economy, our nation. He has created division amongst different cultures. He has taken almost impetus to achieve, for the American people. He has stripped and demoralized our military. He has trampled on the U. S. Constitution. He has betrayed his oath of office. In point of fact, he took that oath under false pretense. He has ignored the will of the American people. His intent has been to change us from a free society to an intolerant, communist society.
Obamunism: The end of the Republic.
