Prologue cut from first episode?

The Wikipedia article about Amerika said that a "15-minute introduction" explaining how the Soviets had conquered the United States and what happened in the ten years before the miniseries "ended up on the cutting room floor."

Anybody know where I can see the prologue? I didn't really like the miniseries (as someone who had family in the USSR and Soviet-occupied Poland I can tell you they didn't show half of the bad things they could) - but I am curious about the chain of events that would have led to and immediately followed the Soviet takeover. The novelization mentioned it began with an EMP attack but provided almost no further background. I would be very curious to know what happened right after the Soviet occupation: What happened to President Reagan, for instance; what happened to Israel; what happened to U.S. troops stationed in Europe at the time; did people lose their property right off, etc.

I don't know how much the introduction would have shown us; but presumably if they had fifteen whole minutes they would have given us *some* level of detail.

I know they re-released the miniseries on DVD a while back. Does anybody know if the introduction was put back in (either at the start or in a "bonus materials" section)? Thanks.

I'd like to see that too. I was one of those U.S. Troops stationed in Europe in 1987. I was in Berlin.
