Situations you wonder how Jenko would've handled instead of Fuller

Any come to mind that you wonder if Jenko had been around, how he would've done things instead of Fuller?

One that comes to mind, Fuller was DAMN naive in the episode where the pregnant girl accuses Ioki of knocking her up, and HE goes on that talk show thinking there won't be any backlash because they don't have a definitive answer on if he did or not, and he's still on the force at the time of the investigation. I think Jenko would've been smart enough not to even step in that quicksand in the first place.

You must have been the one who made the same comment about that episode on youtube. You make a good point that Jenko would not have gone on that show and compromised the Jumpstreet program. I don't have any episodes in mind right now, but I truly think Jenko would have done things much different tun Fuller on just about every case. I'm in the small minority here but I'm a big fan of season 5. Considering how everyone was gone and it was just Hoffs and Fuller by the end, how funny would it have been if Jenko never left the show and it was he and Hoffs in season 5? Imagine how he'd have handled sh!t at that point.

To the above comments, I agree Jenko would've definitely handled that particular situation MUCH differently in the episode where Ioki gets accused of getting that girl pregnant. The main reason is the tv lady uses her charm to con Fuller, and Fuller is a single man who probably thinks with his pants much more than Jenko did.

The entire Christmas in Saigon episode would've been handled much more differently (the episode where it's discovered Ioki is a Vietnamese refugee). I think Jenko would've been much quicker to back up Ioki than Fuller was. Since Fuller was a Vietnam veteran, and had some biases that Jenko wouldn't have had.

The most important difference is seeing how he would have handled Booker. It's just difficult to see how their personalities would have played together. Since Fuller is more of a no nonsense tough guy captain than the open minded caring captain Jenko was.

Another one I always wondered about, the Custody of a Clown episode, I think Jenko would've been more lenient about Tom and Doug's plan to sabotage the case since the only real crime was 2 parents who didn't have any time for their kid.

I agree that Jenko would have been more lenient than Fuller in the episode In the Custody of a Clown. I definitely don't think he would have given Hanson and Penhall a two day unpaid suspension. At the end of that episode Fuller told Hanson and Penhall that they had to start doing things by the rules even if it didn't seem right. Now Jenko had a totally unconventional management style, where he might tolerate people bending the rules if something good could come out of it. Fuller's style was totally by the book. Prior to Fuller giving the spiel that the rules must be followed, I think Hanson and Penhall still had Jenko's old management style in mind since it was still fairly early in Fuller's tenure as captain.

Funny ting about Fuller's speech about how rules must be followed. He sure thought the rules didn't/shouldn't apply to him when he got busted for DUI. He even thought he should be exempt from the checkpoints!

That was the point in showing it. He wasn't meant to be perfect.

I know that. I just didn't like his attitude.

I have to say that I don't remember how it ended, it's been years since I saw that one and I don't see all the reruns. Did he get the same penalty anyone would have gotten?

reply

I don't remember the details. I watched much of the show during its run and then only sparingly later in repeats.

His attitude though seemed genuine. It's what I liked about it. I remember him being touchy about it with his girlfriend. I believe it was when Lynne Moody guest-starred. I liked her in shows.

So what/where was Jenko during that time? A defector in Canada?

Anyway, was Jenko supposed to be an immigrant also? That might have been interesting, comparing stories of how they came here.

And if both (Fuller and Jenko) were on at the same time, imagine their personalities clashing - Fuller a veteran and Jenko an objector (if he was).

Do you think Judy would still have been cool with him calling her "doll" and pet names like that? Especially after she was date raped?

Was Jenko married or ever married? Or did he have kids?

Can you imagine if Jenko had a son he hadn't seen in a while, and he showed up in a way that Jenko totally didn't expect? Maybe not Rastafarian, but just something Jenko had no idea how to deal with?
