Penhall's Girlfriend...

Wow, what a shrew! Do they ever get rid of her? She's so annoying.

reply

Dorothy? yeah and she left him for something completely idiotic and childish..

unfortunately, peter was actually married to the actress at the time.

fortunately, he WAS married to her. now he is not.

Reading the paper can really be depressing. Mr. Dithers fired Dagwood again.

Wow. Thank goodness they got rid of her eventually, both the show and DeLuise.

So because the character was annoying, that means the actress was also bad and worth getting rid of as a person as well? That's silly. Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't you don't know. Real people split up for all sorts of reasons. For all you know he might have been in the wrong. Or it might have been mutual.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm sure she's nice person in real life, but Dorothy was a complete nightmare. The character just didn't work and I was glad they wrote her out of the show.

The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she is treated.

I know, right? and Eddie didn't say anything about the actress playing the character, just the character.

?

do you really want them to do a Harry Morgan? first he plays a loony general then they cast him as Potter??? really?????

For all you know he might have been in the wrong.

how can someone wrongly divorce someone???????

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

The girlfriend was annoying but that was the character. The wife was nice. It was sad that they killed her off but part of the story.

reply

Whoa, looks like someone knew the actress personally! Ha ha. Frankly, her presence in the show never bothered me that much. I mean, I like some of her scenes with Penhall - they're oddly sweet and funny to me.

With that said, she came back to Penhall after she had left him, she forced herself into his home and life, she complained all the time, she had the nerve to kick Penhall out of his own house... yeah, her character was revolting.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

reply

Really? I don't recall a scene where she wasn't a completely overbearing nag.

reply

I couldn't stand her. She left him originally, then thought he should drop everything because she came back? Really?

He was a fool for doing it.

Well, there's the scene in the season 3 episode when Tom and Jackie come for dinner at Doug & Dorothy's house. She appears pretty civil in that scene, at least trying to be social to her dinner guests.

LOL, Doug should have dumped Dorothy for Jackie; he was originally hitting on her and Tom and her to me never felt very fitting as a couple.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us

reply

I found it very out of character for Penhall to be with someone like that. He even loses a much better looking woman because of her.
