I will start smoking because of this movie...

I don't think I've seen another movie where there are so many people smoking. I mean, in the entire first half, I don't think there is a scene that doesn't have Chow Yun Fat smoking. And he made it look so damn cool...especially lighting a cigarette with a hundred dollar bill.

Albeit a counterfeit $100 bill, but definitely the reason I started smoking along the way Denzel smoked in Fallen and The Siege.

I do wonder why Lung Ti never made an attempt to get into English film, considering he already spoke English quite well long before Chow Yun went through training. The fact that Ken Tsang was able to get movie deals here tells me that Lung Ti would have definitely had a chance.

For me seeing Eastwood toking on his cigars while blastin' people away in his Westerns, always give me an urge to toke on a fine cigar.

reply

Absolutely.. both him and a Mr. Fred Williamson.

sometimes after this movie or a western i light up a cigarette or a cigar, then i remember how crappy they taste and how bad they are for you, and that they only look cool on a tv where you cant taste or smell them. but they DO look cool. i dont care what anyone says. so does a toothpick, though.

I think Fritz Lang's M has to hold the record for smoking.

"Beautiful evening. you can almost see the stars..."

I know what you guys mean about your behavior being inspired by movie characters! I don't smoke, but I did become a curmudgeonly architect who trips over dogs, like Dean Jones in The Ugliest Dachsund. Dean Jones ROCKS!

I feel safer in New York knowing that Phoebe Cates is looking out for me.

I am NOT, as a human being, going to go round with buckets collecting that f ucking phlegm.

Another Asian film called 'fallen angels' buy Wong Kar wai wins the award of most smoking in a film for me. It's just constant, I don't know what it is with Asian cinema and smoking. In the mood for love as well.
