Damn this movie cost $2.7 million to make!

That's a lot of loot for 1986. I figured it was low budget.

reply

Adjusted for inflation that comes in at under 6 million in current market. Still very cheap for a non-documentary film.

reply

Real cheap for the period.
you gotta wonder why a film now costs $200m to make!
whats changed?
Apart from computers do a lot of the work , which you'd think would cut costs in half

reply

And it was filmed in less than a month.
Didn't look too cheap to me with all those explosions and burning debris.

reply

This must have sent em back a few bucks!

reply

I'd like to know where all of that money went cause it definitely didn't go for the acting, or overhead, or acting.

reply

It was a little more expensive than your average mid eighties horror movie, but then there it was pretty effects heavy. Still fairly low budget, though.

reply

And for what it’s worth it’s gained a bit of a cult status. It still holds up as a thriller and has lots of fun 80s nostalgia.

reply

Yes, I just rewatched it for the first time in over thirty years.

reply

Man, I’m not disrespecting other decades but I really loved the 80s stuff, gun to head I’d pick the 80s movies✌️

reply

The 70s and the 80s were the best when it came to horror. Some have tried, but you just can't duplicate what those movies had.

reply

Good call, 70s ‘slayed’ horror too💯

reply

Still fairly low budget, though.
an understatement i'd say
Its cheap AF! surely ?
I mean " mid eighties horror movies" were minimal budget things too .

Surely the average movie in the 80s was like 10x what this one cost
