Did anyone else get the idea that there is NO background information whatsoever for any of the characters? No personality development? I read all of the books in the series, and unless they were missing some pages, I felt like the story was quite incomplete.

very true, i would have liked to have more information on ethal & mildred's relationship, they hated each other but for the unitated we never knoew why. i saaw the film before i read the books as i wanted to understand this

the books aren't meant to be very long but you're right, there is no backstory. the downside of writing such short stories
