This is also one of my favorite movies from the 80's. It was a lot better than the first desciption implied. It was one of the BETTER 80's B movies. I would give it more like 6-7 out of 10 stars. This movie I do believe was made before they even thought of making Robocop. If anything, the Vindicator is Robo's FATHER.

You're partially right. It may have been released in 1986 but it was made a few years before that (IMDb lists films under their release date, regardless of when they were actually filmed). Anyway, my VHS copy and the closing credits list a copyright date of 1984 for the production company. And you can tell just from watching the movie (clothes, hair, home interiors) that is was filmed earlier in the 80's.
