Oh, thanks. That part temporarily slipped my mind. ^^;;

It's unusual, but so is Prince, if you're a Prince fan you probably like it, I saw it the first time it was on FOX TV & didn't much care for it, Purple Rain is his best movie.
I don't recall the exact date but I know it's been at least 3-4 years, sometime in the summer I think, well you know how FOX can be, unpredictable at times.

Oh ok, so it's been a while. U're right about FOX.
A friend of mine had told me they seen UTCM on VH1 a few years back.
I guess it can be shown on many different networks then, just as long as it fills up a certain time.

If you're a Prince fan, which I am, then sod the critics - it's brilliant! Apparently the Rolls Royce was cusom painted purple, and the film is in B&W - no-one ever suggested he ain't eccentric... Best line? 'Billy Eckstine he ain't baby!' When Jonathan sings happy birthday to Mary. Followed by when Chris eats a grape and says 'Pits, urghhh'. It's more the physical motions there. If anyone can tell that Prince can't act, I'll have to have a word... LOL
The "leading man" dies in at least HALF of those old 40s-style films that ...CHERRY MOON is imitating; I found the ending quite tastefully in homage to that style; lots of people don't realize that Prince directed this one himself! I think he did one Hell of a good job...still one of my favorites. I'll never understand why nobody liked this one...I think much of Prince's audience was too young to have ever seen any of the "old," classic cinema of Hollywood!
I'll be tuned into the superbowl as well, another Great Gig for the King of Modern Funk.
I'll be tuned into the superbowl for Prince as much as I will for the game! I heard he opend a club called "3121" in Vegas. I can't wait to check it out!
It's been years since I've seen this flick---being a big Prince fan at the time,and having already seen PURPLE RAIN---which I didn't really like that much--I just recently got the soundtrack on cassette--I actually couldn't stand that either,but it grew on me over the years,I guess. I do remember it being promoted the hell out of on T.V. and loving the song "Girls & Boys", which was nice & funky. My favorite scene form the film is when Jerome Benton has messed up something and Prince is on the floor,and glares at Benton before he gets up, as if to say, "You stupid-a$$ fool!" I thought that was funny as hell--I taped it off the VH1 channel back in 1995. I remember it got the worst reveiews when it came out,and just assumed it was horrible,until I saw it some years later while working in a video store and found it somewhat goofy & charming--as well as kinda fun to watch--it was interesting to see Prince be funny and act like a human being for once!
If you marry a stupid person you have stupid kids. Don't believe me, then follow a stupid person home and see if someone stupid doesn't answer the door.
"Tricky put the phone down!" *Christopher slips on a throw rug and into Tricky's arms* "I never dance before midnight...but if you insist."

Lol, I thought I was the only one who liked "Under The Cherry Moon". Yeah so I know it would never win any major awards besides the razzies maybe, but I love it. It was funny. It was beautifully shot too. I really enjoyed this movie. For me, it's way better than Purple Rain. I never get tired of UTCM!
To me it is. Purple Rain bores me for the most part and drags on too long. I only watch it for the music and because of Morris Day who was funny in it. Under The Cherry Moon doesn't take itself as seriously. For me, it's a much more entertaining film. I've never really liked Purple Rain like that.
I hear ya. UTCM is a way funn(i)er film than Purple rain. The amount of quotable dialogue is endless (as proven by all the other posts) and the soundtrack is near perfect. Being a big Prince fan undoubtedly helps with the enjoyment of this movie. I myself have been a big fan up until Diamonds and pearls. The he lost the Funk IMO. But this is a real testament to what Prince was capable of.
