This movie was...AWFUL

I'm not even sure the soundtrack was great, it just seemed so because it was that much better than the awful film, itself.

Awful. Watching it now and it's worse than u can remember. Worst movie ever with the best soundtrack

The only good things to come out this vanity project were the brilliant Parade and Kirsten Scott Thomas. Totally deserved the Golden Raspberry.

The soundtrack was pretty good (but not great like Purple Rain in my opinion), but the movie was, well, actually beyond terrible. Prince RIP--great singer, brilliant instrumentalist, phenomenal performer, prolific songwriter--but a lousy film director. The movie was so inane and much of it made no sense. And the sad truth is that Prince's next movie, Graffiti Bridge, the defacto sequel to Purple Rain, was even worse.
