Absolutely. I saw this movie in 1993 on a bus trip to France while my military family was stationed in Germany--I was sort of a captive audience! It was scary and depressing, and usually I don't watch movies like that because I'm a terrible worrywart.
The morning of 9/11, I was leaving the supermarket and turned on the radio. It was around 9:30 a.m. The radio announcers were very matter-of-factly discussing how the WTC, the Pentagon, and maybe even the Capitol had been hit. "You just can't blame people for not being able to see something like this coming," they said. As I drove, I thought: gosh, that sounds just like that movie we saw on the bus! They must be talking about a movie--if not that one, a similar one: this can't be real! I got home, and turned on the tv just before the south tower fell, and found that, sadly, it WAS real.
But, yeah, this movie was the first thing I thought of when I first heard the news.
