Tim & Eric

I just watched True Stories for the first time and loved it. I've always been a Talking Heads fan just not a HUGE fan, and I knew this movie existed just never got around to checking it out.

I was reading an interview with surreal comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim and they cited this movie as an influence on their work (also David Lynch, who others have compared this film to). I can totally see it! Especially in the family dinner scene, the incorporating of TV commercials and music video style effects, casting "non-actor" actors and emphasizing their quirkiness, and most notably the guy who introduces the talent show seemed like a bit straight out of Tim & Eric Awesome Show.

This film was definitely ahead of its time. As others have pointed out you can see its influence on Wes Anderson and other modern directors, I'd even say perhaps Christopher Guest, though I guess he'd be more of a contemporary.

Just curious if there are any other T&E fans around here? I know their brand of humor is not for everyone, but I'd imagine that there would be some crossover with fans of this film.
