The cars.

These items I should probably submit to the trivia section, but I want to see if anyone corrects me on something first:
David Byrne's car--------------------------1986(?) Chrysler Lebaron.
Louis Fine's car, (@59:38)-----------------1986 AMC Pacer.
Culver family parade car (@1:05:24) ----1976(?) Cadillac Eldorado.

Don't know about the Lebaron, but I'm quite sure the Pacer is correct. Dang, I remember those funny looking little cars!

"Don't know about the Lebaron..."

The wikipedia page names it as a Chrysler Lebaron: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Stories_(film)#Plot_summary.

I'm sure it's a Lebaron, but I'm not sure of the year. Note the red convertible pic from wiki, identifying it as a 1985 here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LeBaron#1982.E2.80.931988

However this identifies the same pic as a 1985-1986.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/%2785-%2786_Chrysle r_LeBaron_Convertible.JPG

And note this pic identified as an 82-84 Lebaron:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%2782-%2784_Chrysler_LeBaron_Sedan.j pg

Compare those pix to 1:08:03==>1:08:17. You can see it's a Lebaron.

Oh, I'm not questioning your judgement about the Chrysler---just saying I'm not familiar with it at all.

Thanks for this. Here it is clickable:

Whoever identified all those vehicles from True Stories knows much more about cars than I do.
Regarding the movie, I was impressed with the fact that the two most prominent cars in the movie were red convertible luxury cars.

Also Louis Fyne's car is a small, green hardtop economy car, possibly intended to be the exact opposite of the other two.
