One of the coolest things about 1980s stuff were the names given to the characters; Transformers would definitely have some cool names; what are your faves ... ?
Some that come to mind immediately are Thundercracker, Megatron, SunStreak, Jazz - do they even have uncool names (don't answer that - just asked b/c all of them are cool in some way)?!

Omega Supreme (be all, end all of badass TF names!)
PredaKing (clever and apt)
Devastator (pure power!)
Grimlock (who the heck thought of that?? Awesome!!)
Soundwave (best voice of the franchise!)
I always loved the names of the combiners: Predaking, Superion, Devastator, Computron, Menasor, Defensor, Bruticus, and the big bots like Omega Supreme, Trypticon & Metroplex.
Also "Blitzwing" is pretty bad-ass.

Something like Soundwave or Red Alert or Prowl or Bumblebee is just a normal word used as a name. I really like the made-up ones that aren't just obvious (Ironhide, Thundercracker) but really creative:

Cliffjumper
Grimlock
Megatron
Cyclonus
Nightbeat
And of course the awesome Spinister!
Although Optimus Prime is a fantastic name too.
